Auburn of Indiana began production in 1902.  In 1924, they were acquired by Errett Lobban Cord who introduced more stylish designs, including the Speedster.  Most Speedsters were road-tested by racing driver “Ab” Jenkins, who ensured each car could reach 100mph – a plate on the dashboard recording the exact speed.  Auburn ceased manufacture in 1936.
