American racing driver John Fitch began modifying Chevrolet Corvairs in 1964.  In 1966 he introduced the Fitch Phoenix which was built by Intermeccanica in Italy and powered by a Corvair engine.  Only one prototype was ever made.  John Fitch died in 2012.
