Jeantaud

Founded in 1893, Charles Jeantaud began his company in Paris and manufactured a wide range of vehicles.  He is also famous for one of his cars being the first holder of the Land Speed Record, a 2-seater being driven to a speed of 39 mph by Count Gaston de Chasseloup-Laubat in 1898.  Aerodynamic improvements  resulted in a new speed of 57 mph.  When Jeantaud died in 1906, his company closed.
