Frederick Lanchester (1868-1956) built his first car in 1895.  Together with his brothers Frank and George, vehicle manufacture began in Birmingham.  Fred left the business in 1912 and the company amalgamated with Daimler in 1931.  The last cars badged as Lanchester were built in 1956.
