
William Morris (1877-1963), later Lord Nuffield, began as a bicycle manufacturer before his first car was built in 1913. One of the most popular makes of car, by 1926 42 percent of all British cars made were Morrises. After WW II, the company merged with Austin to form BMC, the British Motor Corporation, which also included the MG, Riley and Wolseley marques. The last cars badged as Morris were built in 1983.
