Clement Talbot Ltd. was established in London in 1903. The name comes from one of the founders, the Earl of Shrewsbury & Talbot, and the Clément-Bayard, a French car that was imported and sold by the company in the UK. Cars were later badged simply as Talbot and over decades established a reputation for well-built, sporting models that also had many successes at Brooklands Racing Circuit in the 1930’s. The company was acquired by the Rootes Group in 1935 and the last cars were produced in 1938.
