Volvo was founded in Gothenburg in 1927.  From the outset, the company’s aim was to build reliable and safe vehicles and this philosophy continues today.  As the two founders of Volvo, Assar Gabrielsson and Gustav Larson stated – “Cars are driven by people.  The guiding principle behind everything we make at Volvo, therefore, is and must remain, safety.”  Over many decades, the deserved reputation of Volvo has continued worldwide, with the company manufacturing a wide range of SUV’s, estate cars and saloons.  In 2010, Volvo Cars was acquired by Chinese company Geely Automobile.
